Body Work

An art exhibition at the Ralph Arnold Gallery

Curated by Betsy Odom and Rafael E. Vera

September 7 – October 13, 2017

Opening reception: Thursday, September 7, 5-7

Loyola University Chicago

Ralph Arnold Annex

1131 W. Sheridan Rd.

Chicago, IL 60660

Featuring Industry of the Ordinary, Ginger Krebs, Alexandria Eregbu, Meg Duguid, and Erik Peterson, this exhibition explores the intersections between studio practice and performance art.  Body Work raises questions about how we understand different modes of art-making. Alongside performances during the opening and throughout the exhibition, the gallery will feature physical evidence from each artist, highlighting the various sculptural approaches that augment the artists’ performance practices.

The opening reception will feature performances by Meg Duguid and Alexandria Eregbu.

Erik Peterson’s new performance Checks and Balances will take place Wednesday, October 4th, 4:30-6.

The Ralph Arnold Gallery has recently come under the direction of Chicago artists Rafael E. Vera and Betsy Odom.  It is part of the Department of Fine and Performing Art at Loyola University, and seeks to foster conversations about contemporary art between local artists, the student population, and the community at large. The gallery offers exhibitions and lectures by selected artists and curators working in the Midwest and Chicago. All events are free and open to the public.
