FLIRTING WITH INFINITUDES
JOSE SANTIAGO PEREZ
September 15 - October 5
Opening Reception, Sat. 9/15, 6-9pm
Activation begins @ 7:00pm
1448 W Howard St
Chicago, IL 60626
As part of the Doing/Thinking Residency at Wedge Projects, Flirting with Infinitudes presents wall hangings, sculptures, site-specific interventions, text, and public activations that fixate on the errant pleasures of handling thermoplastics in proximity to craft-based processes and the duration of repetition.
Knotting. Wrapping. Coiling. These haptic choreographies become a point of departure for considering the grips and loose ends of physical, psychic, and emotional attachment. The enactment of knots, wrapping, and coiling over the course of the residency will accumulate within cycles of repetition, vacillating between anxious iteration and manic pleasure.
An opening reception will take place half way through the residency, with gallery hours for the remainder of the residency, and a closing reception on Friday, October 5.
