Job Title: Audio Head

Reports To: Audio Supervisor

Start Date: To be negotiated


The Goodman Theatre seeks an experienced Audio Head.  The Audio Head’s primary responsibility is as the Sound Board Operator in the Albert Theatre working in conjunction with the Audio Supervisor and Sound Designers to execute designs for all productions and events. Interested candidates should have four (4) years of experience in sound engineering/live production mixing with large format audio mixers and speaker management systems, a working knowledge of digital audio interfaces and computer based playback systems, wireless microphones, theatrical rigging and hanging speakers, have the ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. and be comfortable climbing ladders and working in high places.  An ideal candidate will be well organized, punctual, professional, work well as a member of a team, and maintain a positive attitude in times of stress. 



  • Load in/out and work shows as assigned
  • Work with Audio Supervisor and Sound designers to listen critically when sound system balancing and equalizing to effectively execute design
  • Program and run sound for Goodman Theatre productions
  • Arrive on time for all calls
  • Additional work as assigned


This is a full time, hourly position covered by the Goodman’s collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 2.
