Pope.L, artist based in Chicago IL, seeks Senior Level Studio Assistant to begin work late February, early March 2019
The position is 3 to 4 days a week; hourly pay based on skills and experience.
Studio hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, including lunch
This position primarily requires the individual to work closely with Pope.L and staff to facilitate and maintain the various time-lines of the studio and assist in database upkeep.
The studio has a small staff of three and though each individual has a focus, tasks are frequently shared.
-Keeper of the Calendar: coordinate scheduling of Pope.L's teaching, family obligations, travel and projects (mostly off-site, some in-studio).
-In collaboration with Pope.l and staff, assist in day-to-day communication with galleries, museums, the university, etc.
-Assist in maintaining studio databases, rights docs, and facilitate communication with teaching assistants and students
-Facilitate Pope.l travel
-Must be organized, efficient and communicative, some experience event panning helpful
-Must be able to work in a busy environment, light on your feet and ability to take criticism
-Must be able to work well in a group as well as focus on individual tasks
-Must be willing to stay in this position for a minimum of two years
-Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license
-Some experience in art-related admin jobs helpful, for ex., artist studio, gallery, museum, etc.
-Prior experience working in an artist’s studio or art gallery
-Prior experience working as a personal assistant
-Prior experience organizing projects involving groups of people
-Knowledge of Adobe Suite, Sketch Up, Excel
-Knowledge of art databases (Artsystems, Artbase, etc.)
