Teaching Artist - Visual Arts

The S.A.I.L. Program is seeking teaching artists for 28-week after-school programs in Visual Arts for students in grades 3-5 and 6-8 for schools on Chicago's Southwest side.  These after-school programs meet Monday through Thursday between 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm from November 2018 to mid-June 2019 except on CPS non-attendance days. All programs will culminate with student presentations at the end of both Winter and Spring sessions.  Pay rate is $30 per hour for instruction with additional compensation for prep time and program meetings as needed during the school year. Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to and from school locations.  This is a part-time position with the possibilty of contract renewal over the 4-year grant period. Skills & Qualifications: 

- Experience teaching visual arts classes to elementary students / youth

- Ability to work independently to plan and instruct programs

- Classroom management experience
